Course Listings

User research shows that the module content is one of the top reasons to search for courses on listings websites. Listing your courses on Masters Compare means you can present the information that users look for, and you can add emphasis to your approved copy to focus on the key details that you want to stand out.

Universities work with us to keep their listings accurate and relevant for users. This is necessary to ensure potential applicants receive up to date information regarding programmes and services.

Safeguards have been introduced through Consumer Protection legislation. Users have the right to expect accurate information, so it’s really important that course listings match the details provided by university sources.

Different types of course listing

Course listings are served in one of three bands. Additionally, each course changes position within their relevant band, so the results that a user is served vary according to their IP location and at different times of the day when they navigate the site.

Standard Listings - basic details which are served at an average ranked position

  • The basic description of a course including the title, qualification, study mode and duration. Additionally, we will include entry requirements and fees.
  • The main CTA’s include apply now, request information, and users can add the course to our side-by-side comparison system, ideal to review your choices once you have searched the site.

Enhanced Listings - includes additional content and served in either the top or second position

  • Enhanced listings follow the same template, with the addition of details on modules, career destinations and additional funding if available.
  • Enhanced listings fit into a higher series of search ranking, so if a user is searching under a specific subject then course listings that are Enhanced will appear in the top third of the search examples.

Featured Listings - always served as the top search results

  • Featured listings use the same descriptions as Enhanced listing pages, but add another tier of search rankings to the subject which brings them to the top of the browse view.
  • Of course some subjects attract many more listings than others, e.g. Business and Economics, Biosciences etc., but our listing rules make sure that all courses are served fairly according to their status.
